When you receive replies to a post, what is the best way to respond if you want to say thank you or communicate with an individual?

do you email, Private message or click reply on their post in your thread?

Do they get alerted when you respond to their reply or do they have to go back and check the thread?

how do you PM and add the other recipents without clicking back and forth to see who is on the chain?

What is the best way to "reply to all"?
