RE: imma clutter bug!
I'm a slob. Lol well not really, but I'm not terribly organized or a neat freak. I am a clutter bug too, and have been accused of being a pack rat by my ex...and he was like 99% correct lol. I have no where near the background you've got, but my family was on welfare for a lot of years and most of my things were hand-me-downs and not new. Now, I hang on to certain things because I'm afraid if I get rid of something (like an old frying pan) I won't be able to afford to replace it. And I'm not joking about the frying pan. I've got like 7, and 3 I don't use because they are beat to hell and stick like crazy lol. I have a broken VCR and a crap load of VHS tapes packed away because, even though my VCR doesn't work, I don't want to get rid of it because I *might* be able to get it fixed and let my kids watch all the Disney movies. It is a problem, and I actually thank my ex for helping me realize that not every little thing needs to be saved...like that stub from the last movie I saw before I graduated that is floating around. And I graduated 10 years ago! I've tried so many things to help get organized, but right now I've sort of given up because I'm going to be moving in a few weeks, and my kids are 3 and 1 and there is always a toy or something that I'm tripping over. I'm just not going to unpack half my things right now. I've decided I'm only going to keep out the things I'll need and use every day, and when I'm unpacking, I'm going to go through EVERYTHING and decide what I really want to keep, and what I should just get rid of. It's hard, but it needs to be done!

Honey don't knock the chore lists lol...my life is devoid of drama compared to yours and I live by my lists and schedules.......... I think this house would grind to a screeching halt without them!!

RE: imma clutter bug!
I just write what I need to do for the day on the calander. Like monday I write kitchen floor, fold R Laun (remaining laundry), call XYZ (people's calls I need to return), bathe dogs.
I usually plan out the whole week. This summer I got off track a bit. Been really SICK this last month. Tired..and just flat out ICK feeling for some reason. But anyways..thats totally got nothing to do with the above. On the regular school year days..HAVE TO GO by it..or NOTHING gets done. I also have TWO grociery lists..one in the kitchen on fridge..and one in bathroom. (so if in there doing something and realise we are out of something I can write it down..and dont just say "i'll write it down when I pass by the kitchen list" because by the time i make it back to the kitchen I may forget what it was. Also found out having "notes" and "reminders" on cellphone to alert you to things is nice. So totally forgot a dentist appointment once. lady said...you know you can program your cell phone to alert you things. I was like..really. she said..yeah...here I'lll show you. since then...dont forget appointments. I have it remind me every hour on the hour for three days ahead of time. it gets on my nerves so much..I can POSSIBLE forget. my fridge is also coverd in MAIL and schedules and what not. Totally messy and junky looking. But we rarely "forget' or "miss' or are "late" to anything..so apparently the system is working. I dont have three kids to look afer though...so I could just imagine how messy my fridge would look if I did. Its raining...Its pouring...crazy is where I'm going. |

I also have a bunch of very old stuff... including 3 of the worst frying pans you will ever see, due to the same reasons you mentioned above! I'm petrified I'll throw something out that I can't afford to replace. We grew up very poor too, lived in a car sometimes..... and Dh and I aren't that "wealthy" right now either lol. I just threw away 2 of the old pans the other day, cuz I broke down and bought a new one (it hurt cuz I knew the money could of gone to something more useful lol) I've been doing the daily "chore" lists for myself, and sticking sticky notes up telling me to pick up after myself. The house has actually improved greatly! Now If i can just get my 18 year old sister to realize she has the same problem I do, and start picking up after herself lol! |
